IOF’s Olympic journey

President Brian Porteous announced at an IOF Press Conference this afternoon that the Council has been considering the future of the Olympic vision for orienteering, and taking soundings from within the IOC.
The door to the Summer Games 2020 is closed for orienteering at present, but it became clear in discussions held at the SportAccord conference in Russia in May that the same is not the case with regard to the Winter Games.
“We know the door is open for bids for inclusion in 2022”, says Brian Porteous, “and we are now looking at the extent of that opportunity for ski orienteering”.
