Posted on | July 1, 2013 | Category: News
The long distance race for junior men was 9.9 kilometres long with 620 metres of climbing. The fastest of all was Piotr Parfianowicz, Poland, who won with the time 69:21. Parfianowicz is a relay junior world champion from 2011 (home Junior World Championships in Poland), and this was the first gold for Poland at junior world championships since 1994 when Robert Banach took the long distance victory on “home ground” in Gdynia.
Florian Schneider from Switzerland lost 1:16 to Piotr, and he won the silver despite long-lasting health problems during his preparation for the championships. Russia won it’s second bronze medal at these championships thanks to Andrey Kozyrev.
