IOF President Brian Porteous and the Chair of the Ski Orienteering Athletes’ Commission Hans Jorgen Kvåle are meeting today with the Executive Committee of the World University Sports Federation FISU to make the case for a biennial World Universities Ski Orienteering Championships. The meeting is taking place in Kazan in Russia, the city which is hosting this year’s summer Universiade.
President Brian Porteous commented, “We have excellent relations with FISU and orienteering in the winter and summer is a very important student sport. Having a ski orienteering World University Championships will be an important step forwards in our growing partnership with FISU, which we hope eventually will help us to become part of the Winter Universiade”.
