Marius Vizer new President of the SportAccord

The SportAccord General Assembly has just elected Marius Vizer (President of the International Judo Federation) new President of SportAccord. Vizer succeeds Hein Verbruggen, who decided to step down as President. The election of the President is held on the basis of the absolute majority of the votes validly cast. Mr Vizer received 52 votes of the 89 votes cast, and Bernard Lapasset (Chairman of the International Rugby Union) 37.
SportAccord is the umbrella organisation for both Olympic and non-Olympic international sports federations as well as organisers of international sporting events. SportAccord has 93 Full Members: international sports federations governing specific sports worldwide; and 16 Associate Members: organisations which conduct activities closely related to the international sports federations.
