Frida Sandberg was especially looking forward to the mass start in the Junior Championships long distance race. “I haven’t done so well on mass starts earlier, so the long distance was the distance I really wanted to win”, she says.
The very talented Swede had strength both physically and mentally on the second individual distance, and was really glad that she found the secret of doing well also in the races when everybody starts at the same time.
There was plenty of time for the Swedes to lift the 19-year-old athlete up in the air before any of the other competitors arrived. Oona Valkonen in second place used 2.43 minutes more on the 11.0 km course with 27 controls.
