Klingenberg: “One of my best performances”

Emma Klingenberg, second in today’s Sprint, is a remarkably good Danish junior. Earlier in the summer she became a Junior World Champion. “This is really one of the best performances I have achieved”, the Dane says.
She became Junior World Champion in Sprint way back in 2008. In July this year she secured a Danish victory on the last leg of the relay at JWOC in Slovakia. One year ago she shared sixth place in the Sprint at the World Championships.
“Today the terrain was very different from Denmark, with the big hills. It was also a technical Sprint with a lot of forest”, she says. Her goal was to have an excellent race and she ended just 20 seconds slower than Simone Niggli. “Incredible to be up among the three best at the prize-giving, and to be together with the big stars Simone Niggli and Anne Margrethe Hausken Nordberg”, she smiles.
Even though Emma has done well this season, she has struggled with injuries. For some months she had to restrict her running due to an achilles problem. “I have had to cycle, go roller-skiing and do other non-running activities. I have got my hours of training in, but with not so much running. It’s first in the last two weeks that I have been able to get back to normal running training”, she says.
On Tuesday she is back racing in Gothenburg where she won her first JWOC gold. This speedy junior is certainly a girl to look out for.
Emma Klingenberg is one of the very promising and talented Danes.
