Karolin Ohlsson, Sweden has got steadily better this season, culminating in victory by 1.10 in today’s Middle race in the technical sandstone terrain at Turnov. Surprise winner of the men’s race was home athlete Milos Nykodym, for whom a little-used route choice on a long leg near the end proved absolutely decisive.

05/10/2018 || Emphatic Team World Cup win for Swiss ||Arena, FootO, News||
The Swiss teams put on a huge power display in the Sprint Relay today after their Knock-Out Sprint disappointments, getting three teams in to the finish in the first four. Their winning team had a hard fight with Sweden in the early stages, but two mistakes by the Swedes made it an easy victory for Switzerland in the end.

Winners in the finals today were Judith Wyder, Switzerland, taking her first major victory this year, and local favourite Vojtech Kral. Both the semi-finals and finals courses took the athletes through some very complex multi-level terrain as well as fast open parkland.

The World Cup Round 4 starts with a Knock-Out Sprint in Praha on the 4th of October. The semi-finals and the finals will be held in Výstaviště in the northern part of central Prague.

Excitement is building in Prague as athletes from 29 nations prepare for four World Cup events in successive days, starting tomorrow. The first event, a Knock-Out Sprint, is a trial of the final form of this new format. This is a sprint-dominated World Cup final series with only one forest race (Middle distance), but that promises to be very technically demanding in an area with masses of huge sandstone boulders and cliffs.
