Christine Schaffner from Switzerland proved to be the fastest and most durable in the long distance competition in the Mountain Bike Orienteering World Championships. Schaffner, 27, won the gold after a tight time-struggle with Russian Ksenia Tchernykh.

Gittus takes the gold medal in the WTOC paralympic class
The medals in the paralympic class were decided on the first day of the World Trail Orienteering Championships in Joensuu, Finland. The gold medal was won by Dave Gittus from Great Britain.
