Norwegians felt as though they were at home
Norway has never had a better Junior World Championship than in Switzerland. The runners felt as though they were at home in an incredible relay event. “It was Norwegian terrain on the relay”, says Per Olav Gulbrandsen, the national coach.

Two more Golds for Norway
Norway was again successful in the JWOC Relay, winning both women´s and men´s classes. Both victories were by convincing margins.

His goal for the last four years
Ever since Switzerland was awarded the JWOC 4 years ago, Fabian Hertner has had a JWOC gold medal as his goal. Today he achieved a brilliant victory at middle distance.

Fabian Hertner, Switzerland stormed round the course in today’s middle distance Final to take victory by 1m 15s over Frenchman Philippe Adamski. Hertner, 7th at long distance in last year’s JWOC, was regarded as the favourite to take the title and he achieved this in fine style. The bronze medal went to the Finnish runner Hannu Airila.

Junior elite runners from 36 nations are converging this weekend on the town of Tenero, in the southernmost part of Switzerland close to the border with Italy, for the 2005 Junior World Championships (JWOC).
